I WANT SOME HEADERS! ...
i have a 93 cx hatchback and i want to ge some DC headers....but, i dont know if they will fit...since the o2 sensor is on the stock header and the I see that the DC headers dont have those...so im confused...please help me out..im planning to order them within this week. THANKS !
Okay, before anyone else jumps on this, you are going to be buying 1 header for your 1 exhaust bank.
Yes, you can buy a DC header, but will need to relocate the catlytic converter downstream is you plan to use one (which I recommend).

i dont understand what your are saying...how do you relocate your cat ? do you have pics to show me ? sorry...ive never seen this done in person before so im kinda curious.
It's called custom piping. Maybe you have heard of an exhaust shop. They have trained people in there that know how to cut and weld pipes and fabricate for exhaust systems. If you go to one of these, so called, exhaust shops...they'll hook you right up.
Okay, on your stock car, the exhaust setup is like this
Motor>exhaust mani/catalytic converter (all one peice)>downpipe>exhaust
This is what you're going to end up doing
Motor>Header>catalytic conver>exhaust

yup, the cx hatch has the cat immeditately after the motor. you're gonna have to move it to where it wont obstruct flow... also (move it as in buy a new one too)

Same way in the EK hatches as well. Somebody post a picture of the 1 peice exhaust mani/cat and then a picture of a header with a cat downstream.

Pretty much. Still one header. You don't need any more than 1. If you want to stay legal then yes, you need a new cat and at least need to have your stock piping hacked up a bit to get the cat in.

thanks for the info !! very much appreciated! but..now that i know exactly how it works...is there any suggestions on brands and types of headers and cats that i should use or avoid ?
You need A header. Header is singular.
Also, are you in Cali? Do you have to worry about emissions? If so then stick with DC. If not...well you get what you pay for.

I'll suggest the DC Sports. I had a 4-2-1 Ceramic Coated header and I liked it. Also, while you do it, since you have to change your exhaust as well, Id suggest an OEM cat and a 2.25 inch mandrel bent exhaust with the longest resonator you can fit in it.
Just my opinion though. Check out the exhaust faq thread for more info on exhausts, but I can't promise you won't have to hack up a $350+ exhaust because it's not a direct bolt on from what I understand.

The singular issue has been taken care of. Leave it be gentelmen. And yes, if you are in Cali you DO need a CARB no. or your life will suck come inspection time.

Here is the official exhaust thread:

As far as resonators, what's the longest you can buy? 22"?

Going to depend on how long a cat you put in there. Honestly having an exhaust shop that is going to be doing the welding on the exhaust check it out will be the best bet.
what do u mean OEM cat ? isnt the OEM cat stuck with the stock header ?....and i do live in cali...so does that mean i have to change all my pipings back to stock every 2 years for smog ?...i was thinking about doing the header, cat and 2.2 piping and unbolt my muffler from the piping ...is that a good idea ? because im trying to keep a sleeper look...im not trying to give off any impressions...
Instead of dumping money into a cx engine with pretty much no potential. I would suggest saving up for a while for a stronger engine. Even if you do a simple swap to a d16z6 you'll see a much bigger power increase than if you were to put a header on your cx engine. Another problem with the cx engine/trans is the trans is geared for fuel economy not performance. If you were to put an ex/si trans on your cx engine you would see much better acceleration than a header would give you.
so if i were to get a ex/si tranny...would it be a direct bolt on ? or would i have to adjust anything ?...people always tell me to just swap engines..but i dont want to go through the hassel and having to swap it back in time for smog or things like that...thanks for the advice tho...oh..and i have another question..since i live in cali....as long as i have carb legal after market parts..im ok ?...or whats the info on that ?
You can simply relocate your OEM cat. And it doesn't necessarily mean you have to change your piping back every 2 years. I think you can just get stuff that is CARB legal. DC sports + OEM cat + CARB legal exhausts (can't think of any off the top of my head) and you're good to go. But if you want a sleeper look then just get a 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust with an ES oval muffler. Or take a muffler from a CTR/ITR and you're good to go.

Well if he wants to mod his CX than that's really his call. But like you said the ex/si tranny would be the best way to improve acceleration.

yes it is a direct bolt on. You can swap the engine AND have it pass emissions. You just need to take an engine from the same year or newer car. So in your case it would have to be from a 93+ civic/integra.

people often have problems with their cars after swapping...so i think ill stay with my cx motor for a while..and besides..it only has 80,xxx miles on it..so why not mess with it a lil bit ?.....about that upgrade piping thing u guys were taking about ...the 2.25 piping for my car...will that pass smog ??
Here's another way to make it 100% bolt-on:
Buy the header of your choice - I say DC Sports. Then find any 1992-1995 DX, Si, or EX catalytic convertor in good shape. Then find any exhaust made for the 1992-1995 Civic DX/Si hatchback.
This will be 100% bolt-on with absolutely no cutting or hacking up a nice exhaust.
BTW:
I say quit wasting time and effort on the CX engine too, but this modification I suggest will also work with any other D series if you choose to wise up and ditch the 8-valve 70hp engine you have now.

Because it has zero potential. It has only 8 valves, tiny-*** intake manifold, no aftermarket cam options (unless you go 16-valve head), and the bottom end is weak as hell. I'm not trying to be an ***, but the CX engine is a pile of **** even with only 80K miles on it. Again no offesne to you, but I promise you it is a total waste of time and money on a CX engine. At least start with a 92-95 D15B7 DX engine. It has 32 more hp than your engine and they are super cheap as hell.

Piping rarely afects smog. What will **** smog up is the lack of a catalytic convertor if you have some shop ghetto pipe it catless. My method listed in my previous post would be 100% legal as far as I know because you could retain a stock Honda cat that way.

i would swap engines if i had the money time and patience for it...but im making minimum wage and about $200 per pay check...not much u can do with that but to buy little things like headers and intake...etc...thanks for the help and advice tho.
well if you think about it...you can probably swap a b7 in there for about the price you would pay for a intake+header+car+exhaust.
