Default couple easy MPFI questions (already did searches)

ok.. i'm not doing a DPFI -> MPFI conversion..
i'm doing a full D15b2 -> D16A6 swap..

included with the D16A6 was engine, tranny, and ecu..

but i'm going to have to change over my stock DPFI D15B2 engine wiring harness..

i've got my enjector pigtails (clips), do i still need a resistor box ?

how much of the DPFI -> MPFI head conversion how-to's i've found relate to this scenario ?

or would i be better off to look for a used D16A6 engine compartment wiring harness ?

will the PM6 ecu plug n play into place of my PM5 ?

some of this may sound redundant, but i didn't come across this specific situation in searches, so i didn't want to 'asume'.. better to ask then screw something up.. heh

You follow the same DPFI to MPFI conversion and you will be fine.

ok.. one last question.. heh

i'm putting in an A6 from a 91 si. came complete with tranny, ecu, etc..

i just picked up a resistor box off of ebay for $25 for the same year and engine..

now.. do i cut the harness, and do all the wiring as the MPFI how-to's say, or do i just plug the thing in where it belongs and save myself the headache ?

(i'm really not this dumb.. just new to me.. heh.. TIA)

I'm guessing -
"or do i just plug the thing in where it belongs and save myself the headache "

You are talking about the A6 engine harness?

It doesn't plug into the DX sub harness.

It would be a major PITA to make it work. You would really need to swap out your underdash harness just ot use the A6 harness. "Changing out the underdash harness" is right up there with "changing timng belt" in the PITA list.

if you have the plugs on it dont cut them. i actually made up a plug out of an old harness i had to avoid that headache in the future. you mean on the resistor box itself?

ahh.. see, i was hoping the other side of the plug would be somewhere on the injector manifold, but you're right, i'ld need to totally re-wire the car for that.. nm.. *warming up soldering iron* heh

yes, on the resistor box..

and i alreay know i'm going to have both sides of a spare harness left over, because the distributor wiring on the a6 is different than the b2.. one of them will be laying on my floor before it's said and done.. heh

here's what i picked up:

from what i've read, it doesn't much matter what resistor box you use to do a MPFI conversion.. i guess the teg ones are popular..

this one was same year/engine as what i'm putting in, and it was $25 shipped (i've heard these can get really pricey) so i jumped on it..

it'll work right, i just follow the wiring schematics on the MPFI how-to's ?

the easiest way would be to order an si harness for like 120-150$... that, or, if your handy with wiring, you should be straight

If you have the Si engine harness, you can use all of its injector wiring on your DX harness and just splice it in. This makes things very clean with minial connection points.

You can also grab the entire wires you need to add so you will have even less connection points (and in addition it will be the right color wire).
