I need help, my 99 V6 auto Tranny is goin bad, shifting late, and jerking sumtimes when downshifting, and just all out acting stupid. I need tu kno should I get a new auto tranny from factory or try and find an aftermarket auto tranny fo my car.

Naw I don't manually shift my Auto ever.........tuu much stress on my tranny..........and I really du wanna du 6spd swap but I heard dat it waz VERY hard.

our city has far to many ricers around, damn college towns.

 

tranny swap isn't too hard just more time consuming. i wouldn't suggest doing it without knowing anything about it though.. i'd suggest taking it down to a tranny shop and spending the extra cash to get them to do it right bc then if it f***s up anytime down the road you can take it back and kick them in the nuts. other than that there are about a 100 reasons your tranny could be messing up but i'm pretty sure that they're all user error bc automatic transmissions are made to last pretty much as long as your engine still runs. take it to honda and get them to run a diagnostic on it then if its serious and they say you should replace then swap it.

 

there was a recall out for v6 auto trannies, i believe it covers up to 2000 year model v6's. If yours is covered, the dealership will fix it for free as long as your under 100k i believe

 

Well everybody thanks for the input and if you don't want me to talk like that then I won't haha. But I aint no ricer............there is too many ricers in this damn city as it is. But I will see what Honda says and if it is that bad then I will have it swapped for a 6spd manual.

 

1. Honda won't swap in a diff tranny, they will just fix or replace yours with the same kind

2. I hope you realize what kind of an investment a 6 spd swap is. Don't think of it as a $500 project, its a lot more

Haha, I wasn't calling you a ricer dude, I guess I just meant to say that talking like that is sort of frowned upon here. Good luck with the 6spd swap, I've always wanted a v6 6spd.

 

I kno Honda won't do it but I work with a Friend who owns a shop and I will have him do it for me...............and Starett??

if your car has less than 100k take it to your local dealership and see what they will do for you. alot of times they will goodwill a portion or all af the repairs on that trans. i know i replace them all the time

what other years does that cover?? my 96-v6 accord lags when it shifts sometimes, then other times it shifts real hard and fast
