Yesterday my car started doing this:
If I am at a standstill, and put my car into drive and accelerate at a normal rate, I will here a "KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK" sound and my car vibrates a bit, it sounds like the gears are having problems... after that short moment, my car will be ok until it shifts itself into 2nd, in which case if I am accelerating while the car is shifting, it makes the same sound. It also makes a small clicking noise if I shift from R to D or vise versa while parked...

After this had been going on for an hour or so my check engine light came on...

Does anyone know what might be causing this?? If its a tranny problem why is my check engine light on??

Check to see what code its throwing.

First of use a better title then *URGENT* I know it maybe urgent to you but you will get alot more help if you think of a better title. Secound please give more info on the type of car and year, .... i had to read your post to find out it was not manual but auto.........
