Default jdm itr tranny 4.785 fd

I drive 97 GSR:
dc header
aem cai
full greddy sp exaust
act hdss
act 12.5lbs flywheel

Im planning to install jdm itr tranny 4.785 fd, will i be finishing the quatermile in 4th gear? Gsr's already just barely hit 4th at the end of the quater mile but wouldnt this mean ill be in 4th way before i cross the line?...meaning ill be out of my powerband?

Also i've heard of people swapping GSR 5th gear for highway driving. Is this something that will be worth time and money?? This car is daily driver and gas is also a big factor now.

This calculator will allow you to figure out your gearing and speed questions as well give you graphs to examine powerband effectivenesss, tire deformation and whatnot:

The question you asked has been asked, answered and then discussed more than several times in the past and you should take some time to Search the archives and read up the discussions. Dropping time is not solely dependant or limited to the gearing but also the power your car can produce.

Best of luck,

PS and it's a Quarter mile as in 1/4.
