Switched 12v wire that stays on while cranking.

I need a switched 12v wire that stays on while cranking for megasquirt. It is for a vw gti 16v, but I thought you guys might have some suggestions.

I have tried radio and fuel pump. Fuel pump comes on (primes) then off with the ignition but stays on while cranking. That might work but I would have to start the car every time I want to flash the MS.

Very few cars have a switched 12v that does not cut out when starting. The one that quickly comes to mind is the 12v source for your distributor/ignitor. Its a black/yellow on Honda's.
