ctrs in a b16 wont yield you 10.8 cr. its much higher because its not the same deck height of course as a b16b.

I have ctr pistons in my b16a2 which I drive everyday. I have to run 94 octane or else it knocks. I am pretty sure its 12.0:1 ratio. Everything else is stock, internally. Just got done putting rod bearings in it, spun #4. I overevved it when I missed 3rd gear, went up to 9000r's. Its now all fixed and runs awsome. Next investment is nitrous!!!

93 Ex B16a2

I have them in my b16a too. Mine doesn't knock on 91 however I haven't really revved it high yet.

in a post a while ago about CTRs in different applications, the compression should be around 11.4-11.6 in a b16a

can someone who really know and have experence tell me if the compression is 11.5-1 and would it be able to run on 91 pump gas

can a tuner or person who put together the motor bump the compression when building??

i dont think you need to worry about running on 91. i'm running 12.3:1 CR pistons on 91 pump gas. tuned of course

You're new to this whole thing aren't you?

Well I'm not going to jump out and flame you but here's a few things to note:
This is a tech forum, where being specific and using correct English and grammar get you your answers a lot faster. No one wants to be sorting through what you write and re-reading it in an attempt to figure out what you're asking.

And to answer some of your questions....
Compression is a physical thing, it's not a matter of an ECU or something, the only way you can "bump" compression is if you have the parts to do so.

Compression means you're forcing more air into the combustion chamber; therefore you're going to need more fuel. How do you get more fuel? Well of course running the best octane gas as possible is a no brainer. IMO, Pretty much anything in double digits should be running on Premium. But even then with high compression like that you're going to need to find some way of giving more fuel to the engine. Whether that means an AFC and injector hack, stand-alone fuel management, or even just a rechipped ECU to dump more fuel. You're going to have to make up for the compression.

It's all a matter of tuning until you get way extreme and need to start using race gas. And by way extreme I mean something a lot higher compression than any factory set of pistons in a stock block, NA.

I'm running 11.3:1 on my engine and have no problems. I'm not using CTR's but I mean, you get the idea.

i have gotten too many different CR from everyone here at H-t. so far, its from 10.8-1 to 12.4-1. that is a big range from people. i know that the compression should be 11something to 1 but can a SHOP or BUILDERS help me with this. i need the real numbers. some said i can run pump gas on this setup and some said it needs to run on race gas. Can SOMEONE please clear this up for me.

JEDUBZ, thanks for ur advice. i will be running a chipped ecu.

What the **** are you talking about. they use the same head, and the block height is completely canceled out(for lack of better words) by the rod length. this means same displacement + same pistons = same compression, assuming what i previously said is true.

i put ctrs in a b16 completely stock besides the fact of ctr pistons ( and the milling of the small end for it to fit ) they stuck out of the hole 10 thou, block was not surfaced or DECKED you do the math....

I am to lazy to search for you . There is a thread less than a month old where omniman stated the CR of CTR pistons in various applications.

search for CTR and compression. IT IS THERE SOMEWHERE.

according to:

http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php

you get a 10.801068956759683:1 comp ratio

thats all stock b16 parts with b16b pistons.

go figure

oh and to the guy that was so critical of the posters spelling/grammar, im pretty critical on people posting mis information wich you did (jedubz). increasing the compression does not affect the amount of air drawn into the engine so your not "forcing more air into the combustion chamber". compression is a relation of the starting volume of the cyl at the end of the intake stroke and the volume of the cyl at the end of the compression stroke. the only way to draw more air in is to increase the stroke bore or use FI.

you make more power with more compresion because you increase the engines thermal and volumetric efficiency

exactly, it is 10.8, and cause some people put mugen head gasket, it pumps out 11.2:1, so "stock" ctr pistons in B16a its 10.8

It's NOT 10.8:1. That is the same compression ratio of the B16B. It can't be that since the B16B block is taller.
