Default New clutch has burning smell

I just put a ClutchMasters stage 1 clutch in my 93 Si along with a new CM lightweight flywheel. I broke it in with no problems, but after about 1000 miles I could smell clutch burning. Usually when I downshift to a high RPM. I've never had this problem with a stock clutch. Does it need more breaking in or should I check it out? It's my first clutch upgrade and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Default Re: New Clutch (crashN2u)

It's very possible that the clutch is defective.
If you can, pull the clutch out and check if the pucks or discs are burned.
