Default what has better gearing H22 or F22B2

ok, i just lost my Manual transmission. so i was just wondering what has better gearing for my 97 honda accord f22b2. should i put a h22 trans in or go with the stock f22b2 trans? im going to put a limited slip in it, so i'm just wanting to know what is going to be better?also dose a h22 have a six speed or a five speed? and do i need to change the motor mount if i go with the h22? thanks for the help.

has a 12 speed. nah its a 5. but if your using your b2 as a drag motor...then go ahead and get the h22 tranny. of course the h22 tranny is geared better. but if its an everyday driver and with gas as high as it is....use the stock tranny.

Actually I think the f tranny is better suited to drag because the h tranny is closer ratio then the f. If you're going for drag you want to stay in your gears longer (more grip) which would favor the f series. Thats why you see these Civic HB guys running f trannies. But thats only hardcore track stuff. Anyway...They both have their strengths it just depends on what your goals are for the car.

understood, i guess i didnt mean hardcore drag....but i have my own opinions about the f series not liking power... ... i would rather have the jdm h22a tranny becuase i mean honestly, at one time...it was connected to a jdm motor! that makes it mad fast! lol but anyway yeah the gas mileage would suck. i guess you could do it if you wanted to be different.

I'm 99.99% sure that you don't need to. Should be a direct replacement.

My brother's got a EG HB with an turbo ITR motor in it. When I swap out my f for the JDM H22 later this month he wants to buy my f tranny for his EG. He can't get any grip in 1st, 2nd, and most of third gear but thinks the f tranny, with its taller gears would give him longer in each gear and thus more grip before having to shift. I've seen it done several times and a few guys around town are running them. I thought it was weird too, but these guys are trying to run 10's so I don't think its real common for street cars.
