98 Accord EX 4dr clock backlight went out
Does anyone know if there is a lightbulb that is replaceable or do I have to buy a new clock? How would I gain access to the clock? Any advice appreciated. Thank you.
it's a piece of mini-blub that LOVE to burn out, those little sucker would last more than 5 year.
it's 2 dollar per piece if you install it yourself, some dealer will do it for you free of charge, one of my car-idoit friend got a bill for 25 dollar from a local dealer just for that blub.

to gain access to that clock...get a flat tip screw driver and carefully pry it out soon as it does then disconnect the hazard wires and the clock wires...then you could gain access to the light bulb thats in the back of the clock
Thanks for the info. I pulled the radio, took the bulb out, tried to get it at the local parts (autozone, napa etc) store but they didn't have this. No choice but to Honda I went.... $4.49 w/taxes.... pretty expensive for a small little thing if you ask me. but small price to pay for having no backlight on the clock at night.
On my moms 99 EX, when it was about 2 years old, the light would always flicker, so one day I smacked it really hard and it works fine. I didn't know it was that easy to change the bulb, I thought you would have to tear apart the dash to get to it. I think ill change it for her, thanks for the info!
What I realised is that like the odometer and trip meter displays, the clock back light is constantly on and thus I guess more prone to burn out. I wonder if anyone has any issues with the odometer and trip meter backlights burning out?
The clock backlight does vary when you adjust the overall console brightness and I guess that would also probably shorten the life a little.
Any ideas?
