Paisley placed on year's probation for Atco incident
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
06.05.04
Pro RWD Craig Paisley racer has been placed on one-year technical probation for an incident that took place May 16 at Atco Raceway in Atco, N.J. After a first-round win, Paisley refused to present his vehicle for routine weight verification. As outlined in the driver's meeting at every NHRA Sport Compact event, unless otherwise directed by officials, all winners must report to the scales for weight verification following each round of eliminations. Intentional defiance of NHRA rules, regulations and procedures will not be tolerated at any NHRA Sport Compact event.
The probation period began on May 17, 2004. The last day of probation is May 16, 2005. Any technical violation during this probation period could result in additional penalties including, but not limited to, monetary fine, suspension of competition privileges or other actions deemed necessary by NHRA.

lol. i didn't think nhra was going to do anything. nhra also took out the part about the scales in a interview that i read on their site.
i think he deserves what he gets. its racing and if you can't live with your actions, then thats tuff luck. if he knew what he was going to before the pass, he should have not made a pass. after watching ESPN2 and his interview, his sponsors should be ashamed.race what you got and don't let politics run your team and take away from the fans. bottom line was what was the point of even making the pass.

Another one of NHRA's knee jerk reactions to something happening. Paisley you always got my support. See ya soon.

Agreed.
It's only probation though. If he keeps his nose clean, he could still own this year.

i dont think Paisley cares too much about it . He said himself he's not racing for points. If the money was the issue he woulda took the chance for the money that day to keep in his pocket. He is just sincerely a guy trying to help a friend from what it looks like to me.
I am still really confused as to why he did this. He seemed to be dancing around the bush with his reply on ESPN2. What does it matter if Bullish is running for the title?
This sucks and it's clear that enough people bitched to NHRA about this incident to get Paisley put on probation. My question is this, why now out of how many races since the NHRA Sport Compact conception that they decide to take action with a racer that bypasses the scales. I know for a fact that many racers bypass the scales for whatever reason as I've seen it with my own eyes and nothing happens except a DQ.
Anyone that knows Craig can tell you that he does speak his mind about things that can get him into trouble but that's Craig. I remember an article in where he voiced his opinion about NHRA killing the V8 class and that stirred the waters quite a bit but it was a great article. NHRA has made an example out of Craig for whatever reason. I think that if they were intending to enforce this no bypassing the scales rule then they should have been a little easier on Craig or whoever would've done it.
I think it's BS

Does anyone think this could of been some type of publicity stunt. If it was he is definitly getting some attention.
I think this is not right what the NHRA is doing to Craig.
There have been way worse incidents than this and then did nothing.
Like When team tatics Scott Rovell paid racers to block Lisa Kubo from wining the NHRA Championship So JOJO and tatics would look good for there sponsors. Everyone seen this happen. Kubo her crew and alot of racers complained and they did nothing.
I think paying someone off is worse then passing the scales.
Just my opnion. Craig you have my suport 100%

Thats because Lances deal was at a NOPI race and HP droped him after that race anyways for pulling the stunts he did.
I think this was a wise choice. NHRA is letting people know for the future that this is serious and is a form of cheating imo. If we want import racing to stay alive and have sponsors like the fuel cars do, we have to act pro. just like they do. Whens the last time they pulled some crap like that?

He was racing Joe D last year at the Va race and went by the scales. I think it was in the semis, he even waited at the lights but Joe had probs and Lance still won so he went by the scales. I don't know why he did it, but that is what happened from what I remember, if it is wrong someone correct.

Tom J ...... i think NHRA has something agaisnt craig..every since when NHRA mess up on craig point's for the championship for mod. class.back in 2001 and give the championship to carlos..craig made a big issue about it(was going to sue NHRA) ...NHRA has never forgive craig for that. i think that sucks for craig. craig is one of the OG in import drag race..He give EVERY cent and dollar he has to this sport..to make this sport what it is today
Wow, that's serious! Paying off racers.. I'm not saying something shouldn't have been done but rather the penalty was ridculous. They should've maybe put him on probation for a race or issue a warning. I totally think this is BS at the expense of Craig. He puts on a great show at E-Town. It just goes to show that bitching will actually get you somewhere if you do it enough. NHRA should pay more attention to people that are actually cheating. At the same token they should come down on those that play staging games. Nothing like waiting 2 minutes for some *** to stage because they want your tires to cool down and your engine to heat up.
Gotcha back Craig - Fight the power!
Gotcha back Craig - Fight the power!
most people don't know this ..Stephan Papadakis did the same thing for Craig back in 2001 in NHRA pomona..Stephan won the race against Craig but pass the scales to let Craig win.

thats all i can say!
