How long to tune hondata?
I am going to HPworks on Tuesday to have my motor tuned by sgt. It is a JDM type R with bolt-ons and mild cams. I have hondata s100 and cam gears to tune.
How long will it take? Just trying to get an idea of how much money this is going to cost.

his set up is mild but what if is a 2.0lt with 13 to 1 comp and big cams and such. should this cause the tune to take much longer to iron out the driveablity bugs?

The good tuners probably do a lot of extrapolation by interpolating across hand-tuned islands (for AFR's), kind of like playing connect the dots. I'm guessing it's an assumption that can be made and still be within 5% of what the engine needs.
I'm not a good tuner, so I wouldn't know. I spend easily an hour and a half to two hours working on a loading dyno just on the AFR's. Maybe I'm using the loading dyno as too much of a crutch when I could do it just as easily on a dynojet.

youll be lookin at a couple hours or so for fuel maps and ignition. but i think it was mentioned already. you may be lookin at a lot of dyno hours to tune the cams. especially if you dont have a cut valve cover.
