Default ZC Transmission Questions (first thread here)

I recently got a DOHC (J-Spec) ZC swap done to my 91 Civic HB. I have a PM6 cpu and an L3 transmission. I'd like to upgrade my tranny to the proper ZC transmission but I can't find out what that transmission code is? Secondly, is it recommended to get an SI transmission instead of the 'ZC tranny'? Thirdly, is a ZC transmission really only a basic L3 like some websites report?

I picked up a CG transmission today but it turns out that it's the ZC transmission for '86-'87 ZCs according to a website I visited today. My ZC engine is a '91.

I'm totally lost as to what tranny I need for my engine to run properly.
Thx in advance for any replies.

Im not sure of the code but the ZC has equal length axels, which will help with torque steer. Im running an Si tranny with my ZC and dont have a problem with torque steer yet, but it only has bolt ons.

Thanks for the replies, as it turns out I can't even get Honda to figure out what the transmission code is for a ZC unless I have a serial number from a car that originally had the ZC transmission in it........
So I've looked towards getting an SI tranny but I've read that the only difference between an SI tranny and the L3 (dx) tranny is the fifth gear ratio. As far as I'm concearned highway racing is what you do to lose your licence so I'm not concearned with that. If anyone has information or knows from personal experience what differences I can expect from an L3 to SI swap please let me know.
TY

ZC transmissions are labeled as L3 just like any si or dx transmission. With out changing anything the standard Si trans is the best to run.

The best is the ZC 1-5 gears and the Si FD.

its not the 5th gear thats different, its the final drive, or differential gear. much like a rear end gear on a RWD vehicle.
