Default 2000 si gas mileage?

i used to have a 2001 ex civic and it had really good gas mileage, that might be because it has a bigger tank then the 00 si? but anyways, i'll have just filled the tank up to max, and drive it probably 50 miles, if that (and not gunning it either, shifting low around 3-4k rpms) and my gas will have gone down to around a **edit** --> 3/4 tank. Normally i would expect it to go back up bc i know they jump around some but it continues going down. and just gets lower and lower everytime i start my car. Never goes back up anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this bad gas mileage, or if it just has a smaller tank or something? thanks

oh yea and i've been using 91 also, not that i would think of using anything else on it though :D

Well this is good news though, i thought my fuel injectors or something fishy like that was messed up but with only 50k miles and not have been idle, I couldn't see how. Now i won't freak out at having to fill up every so often because really 16 dollars isn't all that expspensive at 2 dollars a gallon hehe thanks.

I get on around 300-330 every tank in my si. You need to change the way you drive or do a tune-up.

When I had a 2000 Si I would go about 280 to 295 miles before I needed to fill up.

i agree with Two_K Si, i get 300-330 a tank. with you shifting low in the rpm range you should be getting better gas mileage. notice what motor trend said about the em1 when it first came out.

. . . "this remarkable Si engine is able to extract an estimated 26 mpg in the city and a far-reaching 31 mpg on the highway. How'd they do that?

Honda pioneered variable valve timing with its VTEC engines, and this Civic del Sol-derived 1.6-liter engine is endowed with the same split personality we've come to expect. Other high-output hardware includes a larger throttle body, tuned intake manifold, high-lift cam profiles, strengthened connecting rods, low-friction/high-silicon pistons, fully counterweighted crankshaft, 10.2:1 compression ratio, and tuned exhaust system with larger diameter plumbing throughout. Piloted by a "normal" driver, the Si's engine behaves much the same as that of any other Civic. But when you push the revs beyond the 6000-rpm range, the commuter car transforms into a tenacious little street fighter. More like a motorcycle than a car engine, revving to an 8000-rpm redline, the Civic Si is one of those cars with which we love to surprise other drivers."

hmmm. I have a b16b engine in my 98 hatch and I seem to get 30-32 mpg city and 35-41 mpg highway and I am no where reserved at driving, I like to take the rpm's up there once and awhile.

My last trip I averaged 40 mpg, but I was only going about 65mph.

I get 26 mpg in town and 29 on the highway with 650cc injectors in boost a good bit. I'd say you need a tune up.

mine feels like it gets crappy gas mileage but i beleive its the small tank.
i commute 110miles per day and fill up every other day with a 1/4tank left.
so it seems like its bad but not in reality.

in my 2000 si i get around 265 to 285 miles a tank. That seems to be an average with me shifting most of the time between 3-4k. However, here in orlando in the summer i am getting around 240-250 b/c the heat is so unbearable and i am having to crank the a/c which i normally don't have to do.

I usually get around 300-320 miles per tank with mixed city and freeway and I always drive like an ******* (Also, it's turbo pushing 10psi with 450cc injectors). Now, I've gotten up to 350miles on a tank when I'm 100% freeway.

thats definately one thing i dont like about the si... at freeway speeds (80 mph or so) the revs are too high.

Just leave it like this, you good mileage for the EM1 when its stock. But after when you fix it, I mean really fix it you get **** mileage. Hey I used to pump everyday for my 2kSi.
