Launching A 4 Door GS-R
Hey. I have a 1994 4 Door GS-R w/CAI, 4-1 Header, and cat-back. I currently run the stock Michellin tires, and stock fat-five rims. I recently ran my car at Sacramento Raceway (150 Ft elevation, 97 Degree air temp.), and had a hard time launching. My best 60' time was 2.534 sec. w/0.121 reaction time. I tried launching at 3,000, 4,000, and 4,500 RPM. Any suggestions? Tire PSI? Suspension settings? Clutch techniques (slip, dump)?
I would definately slip w/street tires. try about 22-24 psi. Launch @ 3k. Slip and feather the clutch and throttle until you feel the tires start to hook as soon as you feel this mash the gas and let the clutch all the way out. It may take a while to master.
I launched my 4th gen hatch on falken azenis at 22 psi @3500 and got a 2.09 60 ft.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by MikeySpec »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I launch out at 6200 on 205/46/16 555r's. launching around 3-3.5k sounds good...........then try to make it where you grab traction somwhere around your vtec crossover, with minimum bog...........a good launch on street tires should transtion from tire spin to traction very smoothly

NOR-CAL knows how to do it.......on street tires
