Locking up your helmet?
I am going to ASU in the fall and bought a bike pass because the bike lot is so close to my classes and figured that the majority of the time I would just ride down there instead of taking the car where the lot for my car is about 2 miles from class; but is there somewhere on the bike to put the helmet where it is somewhat safe from being lifted? I do not feel like carrying a helmet with me around campus everyday for my miles walks from class to class. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Im sure there are other people out there with this same problem. Thanks
i've heard horror stories about locking the helmet up on the bike.
such as people spitting, putting slurpees, etc into the helmet. and my buddy's friend had his arai helmet stolen. it can't be good for the helmet to be sitting out in the sun all day either.

I wouldnt leave it there for a very long time. I'd be nervous about people messing around with it or putting stuff in it. If you must, put it on the helmet hooks under your rear seat.
I know it is a pain but you should not leave the helmet in the sun and heat. It breaks down the foam inside your helmet and it won't protect you as well if you should ever actually need it.
I'd take it with me.
I'd be afraid of someone cutting the helmet strap (with the D-ring) and taking it.
Does AZ have a helmet law? Not condoing going w/o one, just wondering...

i'd get a cheap 3/4 helmet and leave it on the bike. wouldnt use it on the road but will be adequate for campus roads (at least on my former campus)

i remember considering riding a MC in college and i honestly didnt wanna lug the helmet around but i was a geeky engineering student who was more worried about having to carry the 47lbs of books around than i was looking cool with a helmet.
thats why i suggested a cheapo helmet that could be left with the bike.

ya well i have a $140 HJC right now that I was thinking of using for that purpose and buy my helemt that I have wanted for a while now anyway. I might just leave it on the bike then. I dont know but thanks for the input guys. and the helmet carrying thing woudn't help me anyway in looking cool considering I already have a gf. Oh well. Its on command so its all good!
Don't have that problem anymore now that I ride a GL1800. I just put the helmet in the trunk and lock it.....along with my jacket.
I would not want to lug a helmet around with me from class to class for sure. I would lock it up to the bike using helmet locks or a cable lock. I don't think your helmet will get messed with but I'd be a bit uneasy leaving a $500 Shoei or Arai exposed all day especially one that had a fancy paint job. Locking up the $140 HJC is a better idea. If it's a relatively plain solid helmet, I think you'll be ok.

i have a feeling you dont ride that gold wing to class though!
the FJR's saddlebags swallow a XL helmet with no fuss also.
btw, welcome to the forums. very small motorcycle community here but we could use more perspectives and riders of other than just GSXRYZRR1R bikes. we get mostly car guys who wander in here and want to get a bike so they can do stunts...for the most part its generally discouraged in here since most people here ride with both wheels on the ground. altought i have seen a guy ride a wheelie on a gold wing and it was sight to see!
