What are people doing with there rubber side moldings to make them look good?
I have a 1996 Accord LX and my body kit is on the way and I would like to replace the side moldings with something that could be paint matched to the car but I have not heard of anything like that. I am not even sure exactly what they are called.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

why not paint match the molding? thats what i did because i didnt want to remove the moldings due to idiots slamming their doors open in parking lots...
I wouldn't want to get rid of mine (they do protect my car), but the shaving does make sense.
Any pics of how the trim looks after being shaved back? I have a '99 LX (6th generation).

I would paint match them except that they are a rubber type material and I do not want the paint to be falling off from it in a couple of months.
Someone should make after market moldings made from fiber glass that are cheep and easily installed and replaceable incase they do get dinged up from idiots.

You should be able to paint them as long as you use a high quality primer before painting. Just don't spray some paint on untreated rubber.
sand it down with 400 grit sandpaper followed by two coats of bulldog adhesive promoter bought at local auto store and then however many coats of import color (usually 4) with about 3-4 coats of clear coat
