Default Finally I'm in the club, but need help!!!

Just got a lude and got a few questions.........

1. where's the torque?
I got a 5th gen and seems like it has no torque like my 92 prelude 2.3l suck...oh I mean soch. I've driven 93 2.3 si and feels very torque. I just drove a guy from my work and he has a 96 vtec and it feels pretty torquey.

so is it the extra weight or just my car, it's got aem intake and DC header with stock exhaust so i shouldn't lose any low end. Answers please.

2. after 3 days only my engine check light came on and a autoshop said it was the O2 sensor but he didn't know which one. Answers please.

I got more but don't want to ask too much for now.

the h22's don't produce much torque out of vtec like the h23's
they make their torque and hp top end.

Actually there was a Prelude S model back in the 4th gen. days.....it was 2.3L SOHC, just like an accord. haha so I think I didn't deserve that smack with a hammer.

Anyways the friends 96vtec feels stonger off the bat than my 99'. So why.....

oh and my O2......anyone......

act. the s models came w/f22, 2.2 sohc...but who cares.

the o2 can cause you to lose a lot of power. it will run rich to be safe.

pull the code and we can tell you what the problems are... http://www.hondaprelude.to/art....html

4th gens are a little quicker cause of wieght and gear ratios.

you have base or sh model? 5 speed or auto?

Thanks for replying bro.....haha 2.2...yeah whatever right still a sohc.

I got a base model which should have more wheel hp than the SH correct.

So the code your talking about is the blinker in the ECU or what. The dash board check light just stays on. The autoshop diagnose it and said it was one of the two O2's but didn't know which one.

So all you 5th gen....did your car feel like it's got torque stock or almost stock. That's one of the reason i love preludes, torque, handling, and smooth ride.

Anymore answers please help.....and I swear I thought it was 2.3L soch

My SH pulls nicely along at low RPM's. Don't know about you, but for a Honda my car is quite nice at low RPM's. I have no complaints.

if you read the link i gave you, it tells you how to make the light blink, to get the code. dont ever go back to that shop. i wouldnt let them change my oil, if they cant even read a code right.

SH and Base model have the same power output. The 99-01 generally have more HP but its estimated at the flywheel, not the ground. 4th gens are lighter than our beastly 5th gens. Get that O2 sensor fixed and run your friend again. Also, DC headers suck nards, and stock exhuast is a serious restriction on performance. What mods does your buddy have ?

True hondas lack torque but you comparing it to civics and integras it has plenty. If I wanted 300ft/lb I'd get a rustang.

Anyways my friends 96vtec got only an intake and you all know make little power. I got AEM intake and.....yeah crappy DC header (hey it came with the car) with a stock exhaust. I know stock exhaust is restictive but they were built to have low end torque and be quiet.

Seems like mine just don't pick up much, I may have to go and dyno it to really know.

This aint that much of a problem for me cause I bought the lude for the nice ride quality and not for the straight line performance. Hey my other car is a b16 civic and pulls 12.80's with nitrious but ride like a Fred Flingstones car.

My real concern is the engine check light, I might just go to honda dealer to check it out.

Hey anymore suggestion please holla.

lol CEL is the acronym for Check Engine Light.

Go see what code you're throwing first before you bring it to the stealership to see what's happening.

i would also think that condition of your motor mounts (how broke in they are, if wore out you lose torque feeling) can change the "torque" feeling alone.

also if your clutch is grabbing good enough or not (cheap clutches can slip)

also o2 sensors can be ohmed to check if they are good or not but if it is over 130k i believe it is to be replaced neways. also most larger auto parts stores can check sensors for ya.

just my 2 cents
