Crane Cams 253-0012 for B-series VTEC - a good cam?
The price is right (~$500 for the pair). And Crane Cams are known for their great workmanship. But do they actually make good power?

good question. i was wondering the same because they have more duration and less lift than crower 403s. (or vise versa) lift is int. exh. duration int exh

i have to beg the differ simply because vtec didn't come to america until 93. i really don't remember any real fast allmotor cars back in 98 and 99.(street cars) thats back when if you were in the 14s allmotor you were hot. i know atleast in Phx,Az the fast cars were forced inducted. but i personally don't remember either companies puttin out cams before i heard of jun or toda. sk2 is out of Ca. and i remember sk2 before them too.
but don't get me wrong im not knockin crane nor crower. i suprised to see non of the circuit guys runnin crane's roller rocker setup. it looks mean as ****.

see, i installed a crower cam in a d16 back in the day, like 99. i have a buddy who was running a crane, or jg, back in 97.
i need to study a little bit to see when they debuted a vtec cam. but, crane/crower are huge camshaft companies who have always developed fabulous valve train parts/cams. yeah, why people arent runnin the crane roller rocker setup is beside me...i personally loved it. in fact, if i were to run a turbo ls engine, i would use a vtec head using those rockers with a custom ground turbo cam to match up...
for storminmatt, id go with the crane cam because a) its a great buy, b) they have always made quality peices, and c) they have been a leader in the cam grinding business.

yeah im not knockin them in any way. they have both been puttin out cams forever. i mean crower had a recall once a couple years back for cams breakin but they fixxed the problem and i believe if you had proof of purchase they would trade you out. but i would run either company. i just prefer a lil bit more duration than their shelf cams offer. but i wouldn't doubt the quality of their cams for a sec.
