,Ignition related problems....pls help !
Hi,
I know a guy who has a 96 JDM ITR.
It has a strange problem at 6500 rpm it is backfiring and hesitating, sometimes even at 3000 rpm.
We tried changing rotor, dist cap and igniter but nothing changed.
Do you think its the coil guys?
Thanking you,
Rgds,

How is that going to change the problem, I would have to say the timing either has moved or maybe its time to check the timing belt for play, but i'm not too sure about that last comment I said

is there oil on the stick... if your car did this in VTEC it would have less than 2 quarts in it... these cars use the oil after about 40K driven hard
I like when the oil changes itself y0

What are the mods on this car?
I would look at the map sensor first. Hook up a vacuum pump to the map and check the output voltage engine off and key on. Or swap out the map sensor with a known good one.
It could be too much fuel, dumping too much raw fuel into the exhaust and it combusting in the manifold.
