Your driving record must be a mess...how many points, wrecks, etc. do you have on your license?

You guys are always mentioning "full coverage". What do you mean by this? I want to make sure I am not missing anything in my own coverage.

full coverage... if i hit you, the insurance will pay to fix your car and mine. but if you were only to have liability, they would only fix your car...

this was a trick question was it?

also....if someone steals your car....they'll pay for it...i think thats the main reason most people get full coverage

I'd pay extremely close attention to that GEICO policy. I remember getting a very cheap quote from them, but it was for far less coverage than my State Farm policy.

Full coverage usually includes:

Liability - to protect you in case your car causes damage to other people and property

Collision - to protect the value of your car in case it is in an accident

Comprehensive - to protect the value of your car from other losses, such as theft, fire, vandalism, etc

There are some other coverages you can get (e.g. to pay for a rental car while yours is being fixed) but these three are usually considered the main components of full coverage.

Also note that you can pay more or less depending on what dollar limits you choose for your liability coverage and for your deductibles.

I'm getting an ITR next week, and i totally forgot about the high theft...so my insurance can only go up.

I'm a SDIP step 22. Usually you start off at 15.

On my 2002 325i I pay $3,869 every 10 months.

So I'll have the insurance quotes up for the ITR when I get the next sheet from my insurance company.

Oh yea, Massachusetts is cool, and geico/progressive and anything other then commerce isn't allowed.

I have full coverage on my M3 and pay $840 every 6 months. I cannot believe they would quote you $4900/6 months with a clean driving record....

and driving into a deer carcass at 75 mph -- ask me how I know

I just got new auto insurance today with a new agent. Doubled my coverage, added car rental, and still saved $25.00 per month -- although it's still expensive at $133.00/month.

Get a second car and put the R as a pleasure vehicle. That will lower your rate considerably.

I haven't heard anyone paying that much for a fully insured ITR in GA. But then again, most people that I know w/ ITR in GA are over 25y.o.

I am in GA as well. Give AMEX a call (yes, they do insurance). I was with USAA (which was supposed to be one of the cheapest), but switched when I got the R.

I am paying less than $1k every six months for my 98 ITR and a 98 Mustang GT Convertible.

My wife is on the policy is well. I am 30 with a less than perfect driving record.

Thanks for most of the feedback on my full coverage question. I have full coverage after reading those posts. Why would anyone not have full coverage on a non-beater? (Rhetorical)
