(news - web sites) Ltd. is recalling nearly 8,200 model year 2004 motorcycles because of a computer glitch that could prompt their drivers to go too fast, federal safety regulators said on Tuesday.
The program error causes the digital speedometer on some of the motorcycles to understate actual vehicle speed by about 25 percent, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (news - web sites) said.
"This condition can result in the vehicle being driven at an illegal or unsafe speed," NHTSA said in an advisory on its Web site.
It did not elaborate, but state police may already have noticed a disproportionate number of people breaking speed limits lately on late-model Honda motorcycles. </TD></TR></TABLE>

That's not the first I've heard of this problem - http://www.sportbikers.net/ubb...00361
Wow, thats awesome...
If you got a ticket, like, 80-85ish, you could hella bring that into court and be like "look your honor, these bikes are notorious for having an innacurate speedometer, i only learned of this after getting my ticket and posting on a motorcycle forum"

you could always play it stupid and be like "officer, i'm still getting used to this bike and i didn't know it would come up with that little throttle"

I am so sorry officer, I didnt realize that I was passing all of the other vehicles around me with ease. I thought everyone else was just going really really slow or something. -Confusion- Here, maybe you should ride my bike and I can speedo you and we can figure out the problem?
-5 minutes later-
Ok sir, can I see your license and registration please?
That would be classic.
