o2 question....try and help :(
ok i recently purchased a new honda o2 sensor from someone here on honda-tech, an obd1 4 wire prelude one. i got it for a great price and stupid me, when i saw "obd1" and "4 wire o2" i PM'ed the guy so fast to buy it i didnt even read it was for a prelude. i went on hondaautomotiveparts.com and checked it out and they had the same part no. for the prelude VTEC as for the del sol VTEC (both obd1) so i figured id be alright so i get out to my car today (ls/vtec in a 92 hatch using the stock VX harness) and i notice the o2 sensor isnt even a direct plug in. my question is, is there something im missing, will a prelude o2 sensor be the same as a 4 wire integra one, or should i just cut the connector off and run the wires straight to the ECU? (i was always told ******* with o2 wires was not something you wanna do.) Thanks everyone.
All honda/acura 4wire O2 sensors are the same. Some wires are longer than others but will work on any honda/acura with 4 wire o2. You have a vx with 5wire o2, so yours is different.
Most people with vx's convert to a 4 wire O2 during the swap. I just got a male and female O2 plug and just took the pins out of the 5 wire plug and inserted them in the 4 wire plug. This way in the future, i can just replace the 4 wire O2 by just unplugging it.
