i might be switching my 17x7.5 rims for 16x6 (save weight)...i'm currently running 215/45/17....what's the widest tire size i can fit on the 16x6? can i fit 215's(sounds impossible to me) on it or will 205 be pushing it? also, 225/17 should fit on my current rims just fine right?

 

i didnt know 16's came in 6inch. umm i would say 205's at max for a 6 inch wide rim. i would get atleast 6.5" or better yet a 7inch for those 215's.

 

the wheels are from stock acura cl's..maybe thats why they came in 16x6? thats what i've been told anyways..thanks for the input..i guess they won't work for me

Every tire has specs that show the range of approved rim widths for each size it comes in. Check the specs for the size and model tire you are considering, either on the tire manufacturer's website, or the Tire Rack website.

I've run 225's on a 6" width wheel... the turn in wasn't exactly what you'd call "crisp" though
