how long do bikes usually last?
i am guessing you just bought a bike with 54k miles and u dont know what to do.
if you have 54k then u already know what to do...
listen to your bike. it will tell u when it needs attention.
tighten the chain and change the oil regularly

When was the last time it was serviced? It sounds like you should take it to the dealer, have them go through the entire bike for you. They will check/adjust all nuts/bolts for you. My buddy bought a used 95 f3, took it to honda and for like 350 they went through the bike and adjusted the valves and checked tolerances on the motor, checked and retourqued all nuts/bolts. I would say you may want the same. Otherwise things will wear prematurely and can damage.
Or just run her till she dies, then take and send the motor to George Babor in clearwater florida and have it worked
He does all the big drag bike teams motor work.
