Default 1999 GSX-R750 help needed.

Last weekend I was riding my bike with some friends. I was in 4th gear when i came to a stop light an was talkin with my friend before it turned green, not realizing i was in 4th gear i tried to take off. i stahled restarted downshifted n took off, i noticed once i took off my bike had a hard time revving over 8k rpm(my bike was running fine before i made the mistake of trying to take off in 4th gear). ive changed the plugs in it thinkin that may be the problem but it didnt help any. it seems that at around 7-8k rpm that its not gettin enough gas/air an hesitates very hard when i rev it up from 1k/1.5k rpm. If anyone has any suggestions as to what my problem mite be, I would be greatly in your debt if you were to help me. please ask me any questions reguarding my bike so you can make an observation.

Thank you in advance
-Brandon.

P.S. i do realize this is a honda tech site, but im lookin for any information to get idea's on how to fix this

So you are saying it's a air fuel mixture problem and not a clutch problem? how exactly did you try and take off? did you dump the clutch or did you feather the clutch? fuel mixture problem will manifest itself as a sputter
