My bike has around 9000 miles on it; after 2 long trips this past week I came home, went for a short ride to a friends, come back and the bike doesn't want to start. Now i have to hold the throttle in while starting it. When it does start, it idles at most 1k rpms. Before this problem the warmup period idled at 3k. Once my bike is warmed up to operating temp, it runs fine. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Derek

**UPDATE**

That was the case, I've replaced the plugs, cleaned the air filter. I've not put the air filter back on, but the bike will not start now. It just sits and tries to start. Nothing happens. I've checked and I get spark from the plugs. Any ideas? thanks, Derek

Check battery voltage, running voltage and if that checks out... replace ecu with known good unit. I hate "subsitute w/ known good part" but its the fastest way

 

First thing I would check is your idle adjustment screw... if its not that, check the obvious... air filter, injectors, battery, ecu... etc.

 

Does your "FI" light stay on while its warming up? Or flash?

 

update: i pulled it all apart. the plugs were pretty bad, replaced those. also the air filter was really dirty. I'm cleaning that right now.
