hey you go to centennial right? I live up by santiago and have the 02 berlina black. I graduated from centennial and know some peeps who know you. That sucks to hear that. To me it sounds like you might have bent a valve. Honda Cars of Corona sucks so stay away from there. Go to Honda World in Westminster off the 22 or Weir Canyon Honda. Where did you buy the car from? You may have taken car of it the 1000 miles youve had it but how was it taken care of before? Later dude

with spirited driving the potenza's only last like 8k-10k I have 18k and im about to get new ones. Im going with s03's this time cause they stopped making the s02's. See what honda says then compare that price with westminster honda world. Later

lol hahah yea i was bout to kill myself too rite then and there when i heard 10k estimated repair.....i did some research i saw that there is a lot of problems like this in the early s2000s...its a spark plug recall...and many people blew their motors due to loose spark plug...so 00-02 s2k owners watch out for dat!

http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/...12092 - Here's a thread where the guy stated his cousin blew his motor due to a spark plug falling into the cylinder as well.

Is this your cousin bro?

How does a spark plug drop into the motor? Is it just the bottom portion of the plug thats defective?

They were not torqued down as tight as they should be due to an improper washer in the spark plugs. It was somewhere around 12lb/ft from the factory, and the spark plugs would start to backout and eventually the threads would be damaged and the plugs or pieces of them would get "sucked" into the engine. The fix, dealers would install new spark plugs that were to be torqued down to a higher spec.
