Well now for the question. I put a short ram intake in my moms car '97 Civic Dx (light) ( D16y7) well i was thinking of making my own costum cold air intake. well what ya think? cause Home Depot is like 20 min away from my house and thats where i can buy the piping and stuff... well if you can help me plz, do. thanx
Ur y7 might run a little better with the short ram then the CAI.
My old Y7 ran better with a short-ram then a CAI, I could tell on the butt dyno anyways. Plus if you run a CAI, you might want to get a bypass valve, so you don't hydrolock ur mom's car.
If you want to draw in cold air, get come heater ducting, and running it down into the fenderwell, and up to the filter.

Do both. I used to have a d16y7 in my 99 dx.....I bought a cheap ebay 2 piece cold air and had it for the longest time as a full cold air...it worked well. One day I decided Id try short ram by removing the 2nd piece....it worked waaaaay better. gave me a little boost at lower rpms....so yeah......I'd reccomend a 20 dollar ebay short ram.
