Timing belt replaced and the works….Noise!?! and more noise…
Wassup!
About 3 weeks ago I took my car into a reputable shop to get the timing belt replaced, valve adjustment, water pump, belt tensioners, valve cover gasket, and the rest that goes with this type of job. I have a ’92 Accord LX with over 127k miles on it. Just got it last August and the previous owner mentioned that he wasn’t sure if the timing belt was ever replace at the required interval. I bought the car off this military guy who was going to be stationed somewhere else and needed to get rid of the car. So it was a good deal. Anyway, as soon as I saved enough money I decided to get the timing belt replace just to be on the safe side. I like this car enough to spend some preventive maintenance on it. The day I picked up the car, I had this grin on my face. The moment I drove out the parking lot heading to work I kept hearing this whistling type noise. I press the accelerator even more and hear comes that noise again but even alot louder. So the next day, I took it back to the shop and since they had a lot full of cars, it would take all day before taking a look at it. The Accord stays an extra 3 days, the technician calls me up and tells me that he still hears noises coming from the engine bay. He mentioned that he was going to just replace the belt tensioners and water pump again, brand new at no cost to me. Another 3 days past, I finally get to pick up my car after they tell me everything was replaced and no more noises. So after work, I decided to take the long way home to go for a test drive, and I still hear the noises, even more frustrating with the windows all up driving 50+ mph I hear the irritating noise kinda like a howling, whistling, high pitch noise. It’s been 24 days that I have dealing with this car after getting the work done. It cost me over $600 and I don’t want to fork out more than I have to just to get rid of the stupid noise. I have been a fan of the 4th gen since high school and I don’t want to give up the car to mere frustration. So my question is, can anyone the skills/experienced help me out??? I even stood there in front of them while they were working on my car. They took apart the valve cover more than 4 times after the first service was done. Should I take my car back to them for the 3rd time? I did not go to an authorized Honda service whatever you call it, so I can save $200+. Any assistance appreciated…
Thanks

Thanks schlit!!
I 'll check on that definitely tomorrow. This helps alot. If there is anyone out there that have had experience with the T-belt, please post. I'm trying to cover ground before I head back to the shop again.

all i have to say is get your timing work, such as replacement of the belt, and tensioining done by the dealer, or someone who works for the dealer. i had my timing belt replaced on my h22 by a friend at a speed shop, who apparently does not know what the f_ck he is doing. (free work should always be questioned) anyways, the hydrolic tensioner was not replaced correctly, and went out, making me almost screw my new motor. it cost me $500 for parts and labor to have a certified honda tech replace the tensionaer and put on a new timing belt, water pump, and motor mount. this was done at $25 an hour too. (got the hook up). now i recommend the dealer for major work such as timing.
