Default My SOHC Precision Turbo Setup (56k, bad idea)

D16Y8 Turbo Build Up

Here is my setup that I have been working on for the past year. It's coming along, but not there yet. I originally built the block for nitrous, but I am now doing a turbo setup.

Block:
SRP Pistons with JE Rings approx 10:1 C/R and .020 overbore
Eagle Rods with ARP Rod Bolts
Golden Eagle Block Guard
Stock Crankshaft/Girdle/Oil Pump/Water Pump
Stock Oil Pan

Head:
ZEX 105300 Street/Strip Camshaft
ZEX Valve Springs with Stock Retainers
AEM Tru-Time Cam Gear
ARP Head Studs
Stock Valves

Drivetrain:
ACT Street Disk and Heavy Duty Pressure Plate
Stock Y8 Tranny
Stock Axels

Fuel and Tuning:
RC 550cc injectors
AEM Fuel Rail/Fuel Filter/FPR
Holley 255lph High Pressure Fuel Pump
Stock Ignition and Wires
Hondata S200

Some pics from my engine build last summer...

For those of you who have not seen it, here is a write up on my camshaft/valvespring install.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=864710

Built engine in, no turbo yet...

Now comes this shiz.....

Precision SC50 with .48 A/R

Precision AS1025 600hp Intercooler

Lovefab Manifold

Lovefab Full 3" Downpipe

Tial Blow-Off Valve

Tial 38mm Wastegate

JC Whitney 2.5" Aluminized Steel Piping for Intake and Intercooler

Flamenco-T Oil Feed/Return Kit

I still have to get my Greddy Profec B Spec II electronic boost controller and 3bar MAP sensor. I'm also considering throwing an Edelbrock intake manifold and GSR throttle body into the equation, but don't know if it will fit into my budget yet.

I'm hoping to boost 14-17psi on pump gas first and more on race gas eventually. The ZEX kit's still in there and I may run a small shot of nitrous when I eventually do a race gas tune. My first pump gas tune should hopefully be done in late July/August by John at Secret Services.

I also realize that the clutch and pressure plate will need to be upgraded soon for the power levels I will be making at that psi level, but that is going to have to wait until I have enough money saved for a Quaife limited slip as well. I'm too damn lazy to pull the tranny twice this summer. Hopefully I'll be able to dyno tune without the clutch slipping at all and I should have enough money to upgrade the drivetrain by December.

Suggestions/Opinions/Comments are welcome.

No, but I did dyno 126whp and 106wtq WITHOUT the Zex cam or valvesprings.

I'd imagine it would have been good for 15's all-motor in the heavy coupe at that power level.

Lookin good. I did just about the same thing as you, all motor then turbo, but I need to save my money all summer in order to turbo this bitch. BTW that **** is clean. Where did you get the GE blockguard from? Do I see no power steering but you have AC? Lol. I just got rid of both.

I got the block guard from Motormatrix last summer. LOL.

I had A/C and no powersteering at that time. Both are gone now.

sweet setup, almost exact to mine, except i have a 50 trim turbo with 63 a/r, you will love the manifold, you do have to cut the Rad. support for the wastegate, well at least i had to.

hope to see some numbers, i hope to have my fully tuned soon

nice
can't wait to see this thing dyno with boost
one of the few higher compression sohc turbo's i've seen and it looks like it makes pretty good power. the cam should put you nicely in the 130s at least. i remember i can just a zex cam on a stock z6 and it made some nice noticeable power.
some expert tuning combined with that sc50 should make a pretty potent package.
best of luck and keep us updated

Everything looks good but if it was me I would change one thing
if u gonna rev high, I would get aftermarket retainers. just my .02
I seen few motors go to waste cause to retainers.
