Blower motor trouble....
The only time my blower motor will turn on is in position "4" on the fan switch. Anyone have this problem or know what it is? I assume the fan is ok since it does work well on "4"?
My wife's 2001 Stratus R/T (Mitsubishi Ecplise carefully disguised as a Dodge) did that - it turned out to be the blower motor.
The motor went bad and started drawing too much current, which blew out the resistor. Since 4 (high) bypasses the resisitor, that's the only setting that would work.
Replaced the resistor for $25 and was all excited when it worked, only to have it blow in about 3 minutes.
Had to buy another resisitor, AND a (tears) $230.00 blower motor.
I'm not sure if our Integras have this same setup (with a resistor for the intermittant settings) - worth looking into though. If it's blowing out resisitors, then it's the motor drawing too much current.
Hope this long post helps!

Pretty much the same setup. The resistor is on the blower housing, it's #5. If you're lucky you won't need a new motor, but at least our motors don't cost THAT much!
use a jumper wire from the #4 prong that works put it to #1 in series and you should have settings again. however i think doing that makes the a/c stop working on certain fan positions. i cant remember. i did it a long time ago. letm e know what happens.

You can't just use a jumper wire, as the fan motor relys on resistors (#5 in the diagram is a cluster of resistors) to slow the fan down in order to get the different speeds. Also I don't know exactly why, but the resistors used on blower motors get very hot, which is why they are of the wire-wound type, and placed in the path of direct air flow. My old Camry had a resistor pack that looked exactly the same as this one used in Integras, and my lowest fan speed was out. I ended up repairing it by soldering on new resistors from Radio Shack, but they don't sell those resistors anymore, and I can't even begin to remember the impedance of each resistor.

Patrick is right. And not only do they get hot, but they are located in a poor place for ventilation....on top of the blower motor. It is a piece of cake to install though.
I purchased a replacement from Acura Automotive parts
Acura Parts 24-7 might also have them

That's a lot of money for a blower motor, I bought one at the junkyard for only $25.

thanks guys, yeah I already got a replacement motor for $20 junkyard style. Now looks like a need the $22 resistor. These little things **** me off. Oh well, better than tranny or motor trouble I guess.
