Default My oil pressure seems really low.. Need some help

I don't see how an oil pressure gauge can be hooked up wrong but When I turn my car on and drive it goes up to 25 but dosen't go any further, when I let off it drops down then goes up once I get back on the gas. I have no clue why it's reading so low. Any help from anyone would be great. I have an autometer oil pressure gauge electrical and I have a summit oil pressure sender.

Is the Summit sender compatible with the Autometer electrical gauge?

Also, where did you hook up the sender?

Not sure why it wouldn't. Not completly sure though looks like the autometer one does. U have it tee off from my oil distribution block on the fire wall. I'll go take a pic and post it now

Maybe that summit oil pressure sendor that you bought only reads 25 psi of oil pressure (max). I think that makes sense. Why didn't you buy the one from AutoMeter. It should have been included with the gauge. Did you buy the oil pressure gauge brand new?

I have the one from AutoMeter and it reads just fine.

Nah I didn't get the gauge new. Autometer wanted like 40 for there's and I got the summit one for 12.00. I guess I'll have to look into that.

I always had abnormal readings like yours, then I found out my oil pump failed.

Ok I did find out the summit oil pressure sender is suppose to be good from 25 up 100 psi. So any thoughts why mine is still reading low.

I just did an oil change and when I did I hooked this gauge up. It seems not ever pass 25 though no matter what. Oil level seems fine when I check it.

oil level might not have much to do with it . i meant fresh oil . well if it was never proven to work correctly. id spend the money and get the autometer sender and try it out. if it dont work send it back.

I had a problem with my autometer one a while back, the problem was there was bits of hondabond stuck in the line and the sender wasn't seeing full pressure. Check to make sure the line isn't clogged or anything. If not, maybe you should get another gauge from someone and see if it really is 25psi.

I'll look into that and see if I can borrow another gauge.

Thanks

I really think you shouldn't drive your car as it is...Oil pressure senders are very simple and do not mess up very often at all...Drop your oilpan and check the pickup for clogging, check your oil feed line for clogging the sender, check your oilpump for wear, maybe replace the oilpump...

This is solved, or partially. Im going to send him a spare sender i've got. We'll see if that fixes his issue.
