ITR tranny!!
It's not about which one is better, more so which one suits your needs better. If you're comparing gearing from the USDM ITR and the CTR, they're the exact same. If you're dealing with the JDM ITR then that's a different story. The '99-2000 Si (S4C) is probably our most commonly used tranny for NA setups and high boost turbo cars running bigger slicks (26"+). Its 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gearing is also identical to that of the USDM ITR and CTR (only difference is the S4C's 1st is slightly tighter). Now on the other hand if you were talking about a '98+ JDM ITR tranny (with the 4.785 FD), it has the tighest gearing of all the B series. Work the tranny into your setup, too short isn't a good thing either. Just my $0.02, good luck

My .02 cents = ctr is the same as the 98 and older itr ( from what i was told ) The 99 and up has a different final drive from what I was told. Also we use alot of the B16 transmissions on street N/A cars but if the customer wishes we run the crt/itr. As for turbo appl it really depends on the power and size slick.

the ctr trans is 4:40 final drive , the older 96-98 itr trans is a 4:40 final as well , ALL USDM ITR TRANS ARE 4:40s the only different is the JDM 99+itr trans 4:78final drive (awesome for NA)

4th and 5th gears are different from US and JDM trannys.

Pretty much the only time I would run an LS tranny is on an straight (ie nonVTEC) LS/CRV motor. Obviously they're not that great for NA but we've also tried them many times on higher boost FI motors and the gearing is just too long. With bigger higher hp turbo setups it's incredibly easy to fall out of boost and you really just aren't utilizing the power. In general with FI street cars we run GSR gearing (or close to it) with 25" and smaller slicks, with 26's S4C's work perfect as you can still trap at ~150mph reving the motor out (~10,200rpm). Just my $0.02 tho
