I'm reading the "Clean 90 CRX HF just bought" thread,
...and wanted to share this story that brings a tear to my eye…
There was a red 91’ HF that I would see running around town every now and then ever since I got my 89’ HF almost 7 years ago now. I live in Ohio so most cars older than 8 years is rusting out. And during those 7 years, every time I saw this car it always looks perfect. I could always pick this car out because, well for one, it was a pristine red CRX, but also it had a vanity plate. TUBA2. I always admired it and wished mine was in as good condition. TUBA2@ became my Eleanor.
Well some people moved into our subdivision last week and we went over to introduce ourselves. Nice older couple in their 60’s and we get to talking. He starts asking me about my CRX and said he used to own one. I stop him right there and ask him what color it was. He replied RED. I then ask him, "This might sound strange, but what was your license plate number?". "TUBA2". He starts telling me how much he liked it and he was only the second owner, but his wife made him trade it in on a new car because she didn’t like riding in it and didn’t think it had enough power.
I ask him how many miles it had when he traded it in. He tells me it had a little over 40,000 original miles!!!
I almost fell over. I then ask him how long ago he traded it in, he tells me about 6 months ago!
So basically, if he had just waited 6 more months before getting rid of the car, I would have bought a car I had my eye on for the past 7 years. I probably would have gotten it for cheap too since he took it right to a dealership without even trying to sell it privately.
A once in a lifetime find missed by 6 months

I wonder what they gave him for the trade in.
Maybe you should run over to the dealership and get the CRX from them! Maybe they can finance it for you if you don't have the $$$

I asked but he couldn't remember. I bet the gave him $1,000 trade in and sold it for $3,000. I really doubt it would still be on the lot after 6 months.
