Default EF with 91 b18b Problems

My boy has a 91 civic 4 door with a b18b swap that he just bought, the car was running fine but now it has a big problem. It would start after a while of standing and then if would Stumble and die, then it would not start up again, he changed the Sparks plugs, Wires, Where should we start to look, also we took of the dist cap and the little spring is not there, could that be it, Any help would be appreciated.

You need that "little spring". It's part of the electrical connect between the coil and the rotor. If it's not there, then your plugs won't get any spark and your car won't start. Just by a new dist. cap.
