Hi;
I'd like to upgrade the factory door and rear deck speakers in a 1999 Civic EX Coupe, and have found a few on the Crutchfield site, but thought I'd see what others have used.

Although I'm willing to do a bit of fabrication, I prefer direct "bolt-in" replacements.

That is very much a matter of opinion. I would suggest going to audio stores in your area and taking a listen for yourself.

 

we sell kicker dx's at my work, I love em they sound great for the $$ and they fit in factory honda speaker baffles perfectly like they were made for em. I am powering my dx525's with my kicker 600.4 (75x4 rms) and they are handling it like champs although they are only rated at 35 rms.
6"s are $89.99/pair they are probably the best speakers you will get that fit with absolutely no modification.
