Default d16z6 into a 89 crx hf...what do I need?

I know there are several threads on this but so far I haven't found one that says what I need...even better would be one that tells me what I NEED to do.

ok here's the story. I got a nice litlte 89 crx hf....you know the one with the d15b6 piece of **** motor. 8 vavle 62 horsepower...SUPPOSE to make really decent gas mileage....well anyways a few days ago it had been running fine, then me and my friend going to go get something to eat so I get in and turn onto the main road and look behind me and there's all this freakin smoke....pulled over popped hood smoke pouring out everywhere. Well drove it hoem and left it. I was confused as hell because I hadn't red lined it or over heated it even though I had run it a tad rough but not THAT rough. It did have a slight miss-fire originally thought to be because of too much back pressure because of possible clogged cat. Whelp I decided to pull the spark plug wires to make sure no oil was leaking because if it was maybe it was just a gasket or two needed replacing. cyl #1 spark plug wire comes out and the boot is still on the spark plus and the rest of teh wire is covered in ELECTRICAL TAPE! Well obviously the place I had the timing belt done broke it because I replaced the damn thigns will all new one's. Whelp towed it to another shop and they checked it out and say it's a dropped vavle.
Well instead of paying for a vavle job might as well just use this as an excuse for a new engine.
Been thinking of the d16z6...so I'd like to know what all I need in-order to do the swap correctly. I was planning on replacing the gaskets and the water pump and timing belt before I dropped it in...need anything for this?
Also I had heard that you can use the y8 head gasket in-order to get a tad bit higher compression...wondering if this is a smart move or not?
Ohh yea what car does the d16z6 come out of? I think it's a 92-95 civic or somethign right?
Ohh anyone know the california law on engine swaps? a friend of mine says as long as the motor is same year or newer and out of th same class of car it's ok to do....just wanting to make sure on this..

sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in...wasn't sure if it was this one or the crx one.
