got a VSS but it has a yellow gear? will this work in my bseries cable trans?

i counted them the both had 20 teeth but the yellow one looked a TAD smaller, i put it and it went in pretty easy usually there hard to get in and i wired it up and it doesnt work on my gsr speedo.....
When i pulled the vss out of my sohc vx tranny, I believe it was a yellow plastic one. Perhaps you were sold a sohc vss?

ya but d series would be able to work, i just recounted my vss it has 21 teeth!! BOOOOO
i HAD the same VSS. it started trippin' too. i had two other VSS's that had metal, longer gears on them. put one in and it's all better.
i see now reason they one with the plastic, yellow gear SHOULDN'T work... but i did notice that the one with the metal, LONGER gear, fit a bit more snug.
