Default Need Ideas, Have 3000 to spend to buy car & mebbe fix up.

I'm kinda a newbie and I wanna know what my options would be if I have about 3 grand saved already. I'm a junior in Highschool and I like the 90-91 civic. I'll also be bringing in about 2 grand over summer, so anyone feel free to comment or give any options on what u would do. Thanks.

Depends what you're going for... speed or looks or what...

If you want speed, see if you can find either an CRX HF and do a swap or get a Civic or CRX Si and work from there.

Best bang for your buck in a straight line IMHO would be an 88 HF ($1500) with a d16z6 motor and si tranny ($750) and some nitrous ($350). Well put together, it'll put you in the 13's. Even off the juice, you should be in the 14's all motor.

Youre in high school so Im guessing youre still into the show stuff because thats what your friends and chicks will dig.

If you are, just get a 90-91 Si that drives good, Wings West Rs Kit and some nice paint, slammed on some nice 16's

Or you can get a 88 Crx Hf and go performance, H22 on the bottle

Hi, I'm also new here. I found this site through a fellow member of Club Civic.
I'd suggest an 86-89 CRX HF. You can get those for super cheap, especially the 86 and 87's. With the money left over you can get everything you need for a B16A1 swap. That car would be stupid fast especially if it were an 86 or 87. Do the swap yourself or with someone you know that is mechanically inclined, it would be way cheaper.

Id stay away from the first gen rex's, ugly to me

88-91 are the sexy one ( to most atleast, there are some O.G's modding 1st gens)

Damn wot. I totally agree with you. first gen crx's are nasty but I heard they can handle awesome. I've had 4 crx's in my life time and am working on my fourth one right now. It's a 89 Crx Si and I say go with it, even with a stock motor it's a great car.
