When buying a d16 motor. I want to get a d16 motor for 89 civic. Along with the motor i also want to buy a tranny.

Now ewhen it comes to going to the junkyard and asking the guys, ....what would you ask?!?

I know:
From what type of car/year etc.
How many miles:

anything else?

 

tell them you want a d series tranny.

 

ask them if they did a compression test? did it run when it was brought in?

Ask what trim level it came out of. STD, DX, LX, can't remember the trims for '89.
The only D16 engine in '89 was the D16A6 in the CRX Si or LX, I think.
The rest were D15's. I believe the trannys were L2 or L3.
And most junkyards I go to sell ***** so cheap they can't be bothered with leakdown /comp tests. Just ask for a 90 day warranty, that it starts and runs.

Well mine is an 89 civic hatch back.

By the way, do you guys know how much an entire driver side quarter panel go for??

Mine was in a major accident, and i need to replace it.
