Default **SPOILER** Speed Touring Car race at Lime Rock Park

I saw the race Live today on HD Net. Bill Auberlen won (again) in his BMW. 2nd=Jonsson in his BMW. 3rd= Cunningham with his Sentra Spec V.
Kleinubing had 2nd for most of the race until he was about to lap Marinus, when they got together cause Kleinubing to spin and losing 2nd. Kleinubing eventually DNF'd. Matt Plumb in the Realtime TSX was in third for most the race 'til he got tangled-up with someone Sofronas. Plumb's TSX finish 5th.

How come I got the feeling that Auberlen is like the "Michael Schumacher" of SPEED Touring Car? I said it in January '04 and I'll say it again: Auberlen='04 Speed Touring Car Champ.

I was there, what a great day.Cunningham was 3rd and Jonnson was was 2nd. Afterwards, I saw Kleinubing being pulled in and he said he also ran out of gas.

I was disappointed Auberlen won again, he wins too much . I like to cheer for the underdogs anyway, and Kleinubing is in no way an underdog but against Auberlen he sure seems like one.

I wish I could have seen the BMW flip over. When will it be aired on Speed?

What's with Endicott and all of the crashes he's had? Had a few good ones last year too. I don't get it as Bob appears to be a clean driver who seems to go out of his way to avoid incidents and you don't win as many championships as he has without keeping your nose clean. King Motorsports has got to be tired of putting the RSX back together. Hope it isn't all that bad this time around since the team is already on a limited budget this year.

(edited out since I heard that Kleinubing was passing someone other than Shauna when he spun)

Bob didn't crash, he got whacked from behind on T1, and drove a bunch of laps dragging his rear bumper skin behind him. He pitted when a full course yellow came out and they ripped it off. He kept driving and drove off the track towards the later part of the race....appeared to be mechanical.

I got a chance to speak to Bob on Sunday and he was telling me about how they had barely any testing, and only a short practice plus qualifying to get the car dialed in, which led to him starting towards the back and getting tangled up in T1. After he pitted he looked fast and was catching up but something mustve broke. Hopefully he will have better luck at Mid-Ohio, where he won last year.

I snapped two pictures of the car when it was brought back into the pits on the flat bed.

that was the case with everyone. it rained during 1 of the practice sessions on friday which hardly anyone went out in but was useless anyways unless you were testing a rain setup which didn't end up being needed. So everyone was struggling to find a setup. The teams that did well coincidentally were teams that have previous experience at that track in the dry (which hasn't been many times for this event, it rains a lot!).

That McLaren belongs to Frank Selldorf, he drove one of Turner's cars last year. I know he definitely has 2 F1s possibly 3.

BTW did anyone see the Performance Friction brake setup on the Tecmark cars? BLING!!

He actually owns Turner Motorsports, just licenses the name I believe. They drive that car quite a bit on the street, drove to and from the track I believe. I see it around on nice days on the weekend when I'm up in that area.

One of the things that Tom Milner of PTG said about Bill Auberlen was that he loved the way he drove. It didn't matter if he was giving rides to the press, testing, practicing etc, etc, if he was in a car on a racetrack he was at 110% and no less.

Not to mention he is one really cool guy.

Frank does indeed have 3 F1s. Check this thread out:

I didn't take any pics yesterday as I ran out of batteries twice over the weekend. I do have 300+ pics to sort through, though. I'll have some up sometime soon...

Nice to meet you also.
I felt like a strange man in a strange land up there. With the rain on Friday and the free day on Sunday I was all messed up.

Right here all weekend.

Here are a few pictures.

Me and my baby were friendly again this past weekend.

This monster was parked next to us...
I 'just' recevied my set of molded ear plugs (thanks Bef and Splat ) and when this monster fired up the ground shook.

BMW that rolled.

Where I watched the last bit of the 500 race (600 race was viewed back at the bed and breakfast). Audi had a monster flat screen bolted up on the side of the hauler and several people were in the garage watching the race.

J0Y!

Bush (N-E) cars on track Saturday.

Wet caddy.
I don't know why they left him sitting out there (during two sessions) for so long.

http://www.world-challenge.com....html

The Tindol Motorsports cars qualified 28th (#97) and 12th (#96) for the race. Scott (96) was tapped into the wall near the uphill on lap #4 and suffered major suspension damage (was 7th fastest in the Monday practice).
Chris (97) drove well and got under a minute lap with a 20th place finish. He had some contact on the drivers side and rear.

I had a wonderful weekend at Lime Rock. I was introduced to Randy Pobst and saw Michael Galati (during the impressive Audi track party Saturday night) (hot tub and lobster fyi..)

It was my first visit to Lime Rock park and with the nice weather (on every day but Friday) I enjoyed everything and had a blast helping the team once again.

Willard,
I spent about 5 to 10 minutes at that trailer. I wish I knew you were around, I would of said "hi". Give us "R-speed" guys a shout next time you come up North. It is always cool to hang with you.

The Endicott's Mugen RSX fell back early in the race, but after that he was doing pretty awesome. He passed about 5 cars until he turned off in the Esses.

As for Turner's Tent, that McLaren is nothing compared to the F1 LM Turner had in their showroom all winter. Only 5 in the world and I was able to touch one of them, man . I also thought the M1 BMW was pretty cool too.
