tire life newbie question

i bought a bike about three weeks ago and the tire is beginning to chap. about how many miles do i have left?

You should go off of treadwear and dryrot. When the tread gets to look like slicks its new tire time. When the tire starts peeling off like the truckers tires on the highway, its time for new tires.

the bike is a 98 GSXR 600 everything is stock on the bike. so maybe the tires are oringal too? i dont know. i just dont want to be going down the road and the tires go.
