If you got wood, you can't post here.

Six runs, five with cones, 1 DNF. I always seem to whack freakin' cones if I haven't autocrossed Karen's car in awhile (it's been almost two years).

But the course(s) were freakin' awesome. Very "momentum maintenance" friendly, and I drove a 3,400-lb F Body! There were a lot of areas that tested whether you could make it through with just a lift and ignore the brake pedal ... or try it flat and not lift!

Pat, three pieces of wood in my kitchen, none for me.

I can post here...heheh "I sucked at the DC Tour"

After losing my ride in the F-body, I landed a ride in WRXracer111's STX j0int. After being almost a second back of car owner on day one, I languished in 10th place. First event on street rubber in about two years....and it showed! Second day was better, but still finished in 10th for the event out of 18. Results are here:
http://scca.org/_Filelibrary/F...n.pdf

Props to DC region and the team of Piccone/Olsen for another great flowing course. Wish I could blame it for my poor performance. Anyway saw a lot of the H-T crew there and had a blast hanging out with all of you. Hope to see a lot of you next week at the Pro!

Thanks again to Chris P. for the last minute hook up!
BTW - Your event tee is in my car!

Thanks to the others that offered rides as well....Pat/Karen, Sammy, and all the others that were keeping their eyes open. I am always amazed at how things always seem to come together.

Also...everyone say a prayer for Ron Katona. He will be missed.

Even though I wasn't exactly pleased with my results I was happy with my overall driving. I only had 1 clean run each day. Easily the most difficult course I've ever driven, but also one of the most fun ever driven also. Got to meet some new people and enjoyed the weekend.

I've also got pictures from groups 1 and 5. If anybody was in those groups PM your class/number and I'll see what I got.

And congrats to Jesse Naughton who took STX in my civic without ever driving it before.

I suck more then all of you guys. I spunout 6 times total that weekend. I created a monster that I can't control and that was my first time on hoosiers and my 7th autox . Needless to say I need alot of seat time with the car. I was driving the tan/black civic in SM "aka" the PUDDING. It has to be me because my boss was able to drive the car to 2nd place.

Saturday alone earns me the right to post in this thread... Holy crap did I suck that day. Cones on my first two runs left me struggling to be clean before going into sunday. So I buckle down and tell my self "Just drive a clean smooth line but be aggressive". I go out and do that... Apparently, I have to redefine my definition of aggressive as I came back about 1.5 seconds slower than my first run and about 4 seconds off the pace!!!! CRAP!

I drove better on sunday (I think I had the second fastest clean a-stock time of the day) but nothing short of a miracle would help me over come the 4 second deficit from the day before.

Got beat by my co-driver Erik Kriemelmeyer (sp?)... and from this point forwad will NOT be listening to Karen when she tries to set me up with a co-driver.

Hopefully next weekend will be better.

Oh I can definitely post in here. 5 out of 6 runs were coned, including 3 spins. Not much you can really say about that.

Indeed. Ron was one hell of a nice guy.

BTW, I got wood but I still sucked. The car I "drove" was able to go like 3.2 seconds faster than me in the hands of a competent RWD driver Oh well, there's always next weekend.

I worked the heat you guys ran. HOLY crap were you guys fast coming down (on Saturday) and up that hill (on Sunday).

I get to post in this thread too WOOT! It's amazing the caliber of drivers. I don't think I was even close to the caliper of drivers in STS. I really got my butt handed to me in pieces STS had 27 competitors the largest class at the DC Tour. I didn't realize until after I worked the last heat what the heck I was doing wrong. Watching everyone going through the course most of them were not using the brakes at ALL! I must have counted at least 10 things that I was doing wrong. Things locally I never even noticed.

I think I counted like 7-9 4th gen Civic Si's in the class Two Celica GTs, two 2.5RS's, two Dodge Neon ACRs, me the lonely 6th Gen Civic Si, one 5th Gen Civic Ex and a few others. Very diverse class.

It was great meeting you all. Ryan & Jesse whom I've talked to on the boards for years, but never in person. I'll try to post videos later this week of the course. It was approximately 1.2 miles (60-70 seconds) on Saturday and exactly 1 mile on Sunday (50-60 seconds).

Congrats to all the trophy winners!

I was co-driving the Starlet. I must say, that thing is as crazy as it looks. It was only my second event in a RWD car, first time in that car, so finishing mid pack was good enough for me. The car grips great but could use some more rubber (we were on RS303's on the front and old kumho's on the rear). It could also use a bit power, especially for Sunday's course. Those miata's pretty much schooled us all.

I'm sorry I do not know this, but who was Ron Katona? Did a competitor pass away over the weekend?

I only met Ron twice, but he was one of the nicest guys in autocross I've met.

Ron passed away of Lung Cancer Saturday. He was not at the event.

While one of those peices of wood is probably mine, I am not sure I deserve it. I had a GREAT Saturday running Rob Foley's car in GS, (thanks again Rob). Mark Chiles, myself and Rob were the top three with .029 seconds separating all of us. Well Sunday I forgot to bring my game. Had cones or nearly spun on EVERY run. Dropped to 6th.

Course was as great as usual.

BTW, for those that do not know, Lee is doing the South course for Nationals this year. I have seen the layout, let me just say I am really disappointed I am not going this year. This will be some great courses.

RIP Ron. You will be missed by more than you know.

Eric

And we didn't even need any of them seatcovers Karen offered.

Actually, Mr. Carman gets credit for being one of the few if not the only person to jump in one of them assy girly 7th Celicas and not end up going backwards multiple times. Well, he might have had to steer looking out the side windows every now and then, but generally it was pointed in the right direction. Major accomplishment to beat me by .004 in my own car on Saturday. Of course, who knows what I could have done with a 4th run too.

In the coulda woulda shouldas, since I was .954 up on the class after Run 1 Saturday, I suck too for ending up second in GS when all was done. But that Mini and Mr. Chiles was tough, especially going up all them hills.

All in, a great event. Lee does awesome courses. The only downers, no garbage disposal....only 4 ******** for 500 people - glad I brought my own this weekend....and the bad news about Ron Katona.

I may have barely nabbed wood in CS, but not because I drove particularly well. I coned away a run that would have had me in 3rd, but I still was no where in Telehowski's or DiSimo's league.

Finding out about Ron on Sunday morning made autocross seem very, very small. We'll miss him.

Karen

We were at 1914lbs after running on Saturday so Ed (the owner) didn't think it'd be necessary to put in any more gas for Sunday. It doesn't get any closer than that.

Hell, I was pretty happy to be less then 2 tenths back after my second run. If I had not gotten the fourth. But, when it was said and done, I was certainly glad to get the fourth run...hahaha. It was kind of funny though, I think Craig was getting nervous that I kept catching him.

i would also like to publically thank Chateu D'Unten for accomodating me this weekend. i owe you one... again.

Here's a little tidbit for you....

The T&S software can only add up to 9 cones per run. So, anything after 9 cones on a single run is a freebie.

Karen
hit 4 cones total on saturday and another 3 on sunday
