Default new tps questions... what about the gasket?

ive been having tps probs ever since i swapped tbs - the voltages are ok but i still get some intermittent idle probs and the occasional cel (#7) - im almost positive the sensor is good but the gasket got a little thrashed, prob is you cant just buy the gasket, and if there was one in the first place, im sure its for a reason - if i cant find one can i make one? - out of what? tia

There should be a gasket, I would try and replace that first. If there is a leak in the old one that might be the problem. Should be pretty cheap from Honda.

there is a gasket, and i would replace it but checking online it looks like i have to buy the whole tb to get the gasket, i thought about high temp thermostat gasket stuff but that seems like it would just make a mess, anyone else?

Ok...you can get some gasket paper from your local auto parts store and make your own for about 6 dollars...that's what i did....or you can drop like $30 and get one from a honda cbr 600, i believe, from your local honda motorcycle dealer.

Good luck

You could just coat both sides of your current (somewhat messed up gasket) with an RTV. It should seal it pretty well.

cork gasket material, should work fine. rtv might mess with the sensor a little. thats my 2 cents!

The sensor is nothing but a spring loaded arm that twists with the TB shaft. There is nothing to mess with.

I just made one for mine with some gasket paper, the old one was pretty shabby.
Trace it out first, get an adult to help with the scissors

i wondered about the neccessity of a gasket - besides the old "if they put one on it must be there for a reason", i dont see were you need one

I guess its possible that some vaccum could slip by around the TB shaft. It might be a "Just in case" sorta thing.

a bit off topic but does anyone know where and how i can get a new TPS? Honda seems to want to sell the whole TB and will not sell a seperate TPS..

Does anyone know a workaround to obtain a new TPS? maybe off the CBR like someone said about the gasket?
