n00b first post, "Should I buy this CRX..?"
heh, hi all... sorry to start off w/ what is probably a lame question here on the fora, but i am going back and forth over purchasing a particular CRX from a friend-of-a-friend... any direction or advice would be great, heres the deal..:
'91 CRX si
110,000 original miles
white exterior, black leather interior
5 sp
clutchmaster stage1 clutch
K&N intake/filter
downpipe, cheapo exhaust
no oil leaks
minor hood damage (replace w/ CF i guess)
two small rust spots low on right-hand door (size of pencil eraser)
interior is in nice shape and clean, missing some of the rear pieces (removed for weight)
car drives really good, feels tight. i don't know too much about these cars i must admit, but have always wanted one (i learned how to drive a stick in a '90)... one thing that worries me is the A/C isn't working, the guy says that the belt is off of it, maybe not too big a deal even if broken considering the cost of parts on these cars.
the guy wants $1400 for the car, i might be able to get him down to $1200-1300 since i'll be bringing cash. any input? good deal, maybe not?
any advice would be great, the seller is really wanting to move this car as he doesn't have room for it at his apt complex... i've got to decide pretty soon, thx in advance all..!

well for 1300 i would do it.. even at 1500. But then again i just love crx's. Leather interior? Rock on man.
Also depends on what you plan on doing with the rex...
Good

thats decently low miles. i think what he's asking for is reasonable. number one thing id watch out for is rust - wheel wells, sunroof, door hinges, behind rear bumper cover, etc. next make sure it has a clean title. also ask about collisions-bent frame is not cool.
i've gone over it pretty carefully for rust, the only sign i can find in on that one door down low, doesn't look real serious but i guess the worst it could possibly turn out would be the cost of a new door (?)... car is very straight, no signs of any real collisions aside from the light damage (a pressed in crease) on the hood, i did run a carfax on it and no sign of scary history, but i know that isn't a foolproof check. barring anything bad i find tomorrow on my final inspection i think i will indeed pick her up, always wanted a CRX and seems like a good deal on one.
my only fear, and i know myself here, is that i will immediately be buying up aftermarket "dress up" parts and performance mods... still has to be a cheaper hobby than my third-gen RX-7, that car is brutal on the wallet.
thx all, i will post back here after i am in possession of the cute llittle thing..!

Ya seems like a good deal, just remember it doesnt hurt to look twice, because once you buy it there is no going back!

ya sounds like a good deal. i thought there was no rust/rot on my first crx till i bought it and found out there was a lot under the stock side skirts and the spare tire hole. but double check and if there is no rot get it. sounds like a good deal.
