breaks are going, need opinion on new setup.
hey all,
Well my breaks started making a screeching sound yesterday. I jacked it up and looked at the breaks, its the little sensor. So im replacing my breaking system. Now I dont have the money for a big break kit so im going to do the next best thing. I already ordered Hawk HPS pads. Is it worth it to get crossdrilled and slotted rotors, stainless steel break lines, and dot 5 fluid?? Which rotors are the best, Ive heard some will warp very easily.
thanks

lines and good fluid are worth it. as for the rotors, you'll get a lot of people saying blanks are the best for street. that's the general honda-tech opinion. there will be some that swear by slotted or cross-drilled though. personally, i've only used blanks so i can't really say. be careful if you buy slotted or cross-drilled though, some companies buy brembo blanks and drill them themselves. those rotors suck.
i would get slotted over cross-drilled. the purpose of either is to let brake gases out from between the pad and rotor (gases cause brake fade). you won't get much gas (if any) from modern pads on the street, so those rotors may not be benificial to you (assuming it's a street car). and actually, slotting or drilling rotors takes out the sweep area of the pad and volume of the rotor (the pad won't be creating as much friction and the rotor can't hold as much heat). that's why many people say blanks are better for street use. as to whether or not they're worth it, that's your choice. personally, i would buy them. i would buy them just to experience it and if blanks were better, i would buy blanks next time around.

I would recommend autozone rotors, hawp hp+ pads, valvoline synpower dot 3/4 fluid, and stainless steel braided lines. I had this setup without the lines and I couldn't ever fade them, even out on the track.
