Hawk Blues - where to buy them?
Doesn't look like it:
http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/products/pads.jsp
I got mine from Essex parts:
http://www.essexparts.com/
But you cold also find a dealer at Hawks main site:
http://www.hawkperformance.com/
Just FYI if you didn't know already these are agressive race pads with very high immediate torque that Will chew up your rotors and dust like a sonofabitch. If you don't remove the dust it will stick to parts, wheels whatnot as well, if you leave the dust on and it gets wet, it will stick forever.
Personally I'd go with Cobalt GT sports or a combo with GT-VR's instead
Oh wait, I already did.

Unfortunately so did I.
Great pads otherwise

My classroom insructor at putnum said the same thing about the dust. Will hawk HP plus be enough to be to justify a change from a stock pad?

HP plus are a street compound that are decent to very good for autocross depending on who you talk to. Hawk' site does not seem to list the operating temps for this pad but if you look here you can see where the Blues are effective from 250F to 1000F http://www.hawkperformance.com...n.cfm
And then look at the Cobalt pads effective range the Spec VR's in particular at 350F to 1550F which while may not have exactly the same initial bite will be far less prone to fade: http://www.cobaltfriction.com/...t.htm
Ask around or even talk to Andie at Cobalt and see what he suggests for your application. I personally don't daily drive my car but run Spec VR's up front and GT sports in the rear, to and from the track with no issues other than dust BUT at least it ain't the mean and damaging dust like the Blues supply.

Hawk's will ruin paint and wheels.
Carbotech XP08's and 09's are better pads and don't damage my Volk TE's. I often leave the dust on until a week before the next race.
But yeah, people ignore good advise around here all the time.... order the Blues and then a new set of wheels while your at it.
BTW- Look me up at Beaverun... Team Carbotech H1 #88.

Just to add, they're great for outbraking everything on the track, too

Yes, exactly. Andie is THE expert on brakes. He sells Hawk pads as well as the Cobalt pads, and can advise you on how they compare (AND give you great prices on either one!).

Ditto - I like the specVR's as much as I did the blues...but the hawk blue's ruined my track wheels after getting the dust wet
If you've never run anything but stock pads & haven't tracked your R, then get HP+ or GT Sport pads not blues or specVR's. Break yourself in a little easier than that. You need to learn your kaa a little first - .02
