Default My first time drag racing. need help.

Ok here we go. I run a 99 ek hatch with a b16A2 (usdm) with i/h/e.
I ran on my 16" 5 zigen fn01-r wrapped in kuhmo ecsta supra at 30 psi.
I made 15 runs so 'ill give you my 3 best et and all info. I need help on how to cut my time down.

reaction .794
60 ft 2.345
6.764
1/8 mile: 9.903 at 73.548
1/4 15.382 at 87.474

reaction .704
60 ft 2.347
6.774
1/8 9.897 at 73.801
1/4 15.397 at 88.426

reaction .949
60 ft 2.396
6.797
1/8 9.922 at 73.603
1/4 15.438 at 88.104

My best trap speed was 90.082.

What makes me have better trap speed on a slower run?
I can i get my 60 ft time in at least 2.2 on my kumho's?

My buddy ran a 15.1 at 91.183 mph.

I was launching at 5000 rpm.

Thanx guy's for your help.

Try lowering your lauch rpm, 5k seems high to me.Are you spining off the line or does it hook up good from 5k?

hmmm..kumho's are known not to have the best traction. but, i would say based upon your three posted times, as far as mph are concerned, you're about where you should be. just keep in mind that at the track, you're not racing the person in the other lane. you're racing the lights/clock. you can sit at the line for 2 seconds and not move, and your time will not start.

seeing a 2.2 60 foot is going to be very hard. are you dumping the clutch, feathering it out, or slipping your foot off the pedal?

What was your elevation? That kills all motor. My car ran 15.4 on street tires at 2500 ft. and 15.8 on DRAG RADIALS at around 4500 ft. I also trapped 6 mph slower at the higher elevation.

Spins a little but hooks up. I have a 8.8 lbs flywheel and exedy stage one clutch.
i tried 3.5 k,4k,4.5k but 5k was the best for me.

try riding the clutch a little. i hit 2.2 60' with my azenis. i think i hit a 2.1 before, don't remember though. i launch around 4k and i still get wheel spin and wheel hop. practice your launching.

if you had just a little spin, then maybe you are were you should be. ls motors and the b16 motors usually hit around the same times. my friend is hitting a 15.3 at the track with his ls motor. he just has a header, s2 IM, 12.5lb flywheel, exhaust.

I don't know. I live in Ottawa canada and never bothered to check that.
Everybody tells me that the track at wich i went sucks big time. The other one i'll be going at should yield better results that is what i was told by some drag racers that go around region.

thanx for the help guys

For Ref. I had a 96' HB with B16a and with Street tires I was able to pull a 14.7@92mph But this is at sea level!

Just keep working on your launch, You should be able to get 2.1 60 foots and that would lower your times ~.2-.3!

sounds like you and i have very similar cars. i tried all those rpms and you know what works best for me? 6k. no wheelhop, a little spin but it hooks great and doesn't bog. try launching from 5500 5700 6000 6200 and see what happens. modulate the clutch and gas until it hooks.

you always want to launch from an rpm in that's in your powerband, not 2k like some people think.
