I find it funny that you call him a kid when he is older than you.

He is wrong though. You could make the system for <$1000, but definitely not with that monitor.

 

Throwing in an adaptec 2940 UW scsi controller & a 9 gig seagate barracuda ultra scsi hard drive now too.
